The Harvard resume format is the layout recommended by the Harvard Office of Career Services. It's a clean, single-column, one-page resume that emphasizes readability, quantified accomplishments, and reverse-chronological order. For decades it has been the standard for Harvard students, alumni, and consulting/finance applicants.
Why adapt it for ATS?
The classic Harvard PDF uses small caps, centered headers, and tight kerning — beautiful on paper but problematic for Applicant Tracking Systems. Our ATS-friendly Harvard resume keeps the layout's discipline while fixing the parts that break ATS parsing:
